SUMMER POPS

Phantom Goes to the Operetta

Friday, June 26, 2015 – 7:00 p.m. (Doors open at 5:30 p.m.)
Racine Festival Hall, 5 Fifth Street

Bring your opera glasses! Let the evening’s eclectic mix of operettas dazzle you. Highlights include Webber’s Jesus Christ Superstar, Evita and Phantom of the Opera, as well as Strauss’ Overture to Die Fledermaus. The sounds of works by Gilbert and Sullivan, Offenbach and Lehar will also soar through Festival Hall. Back with us for the evening are Ami Bouterse and Greg Berg who will add special voices to the concert.

Honoring our Armed Forces Troops and Veterans. Any active duty or reserve member of the Armed Forces wearing their uniform or with an ID, will be admitted to the concert free.

Pops Potpourri

The Muppets take Manhattan – or Festival Hall! This concert will delight audience members of all ages with pieces such as Chase’s The Muppet Medley, A Tribute to Lerner and Loewe, Anderson’s Belle of the Ball, Suppe’s Light Calvary Overture and Stevie Wonder’s Stevie Wonder Sounds. Special guest, singer and songwriter Zachary Scot Johnson will entertain with a solo performance, as well as alongside the Orchestra for an extended set.

Fall Masterworks Concert

With Strings Attached

You have seen Maestro Laurino conduct the Orchestra, but have you heard him perform? The talented duo of Maestro Laurino and Concertmaster Alexander Mandl will entertain you with Bach’s Double Violin Concerto. In this string-centric concert, the Orchestra will also perform Grazyna Bacewicz’s Concerto for Strings and Dvorak’s Serenade for Strings. Special guest artist, violist Dominic Johnson, will perform Hindemith’s Trauermusik alongside the Orchestra.

Let us put you in the holiday spirit! Revel in holiday favorites such as, Here Comes Santa Claus, We Wish You a Merry Christmas, Anderson’s Christmas Festival and Sleigh Ride, Jim Stephenson’s arrangement of Joy to the World and more. Participate in our annual audience sing along as the Orchestra performs the medley, A Holly and Jolly Sing-Along. Special guests for this concert include local actor and singer Bob Benson and choir students participating in our All County Holiday Chorus.

Join us for the Finale to our amazing 2015-16 Season! Guest Artist for the evening will be the winner of our 2016 Young Artists’ Competition, who will amaze you with an encore of his or her winning performance. Support our YAC winner, as well as participants in our Side-by-Side Youth Invitational, as they perform alongside their Orchestra musician mentors. Brahms’ Serenade No. 1, a 45 minute piece, will consume much of the concert, to be complimented by the YAC winner’s performance and an additional piece.
