Honoring Our Past

Friday, June 27, 2014 – 7:00 p.m.
Racine Festival Hall, 5 Fifth Street (Doors open at 5:30 p.m.)

Join us in honoring every generation of men and women who have or who are serving in our armed forces with an evening of all-patriotic music, highlighted by marches, anthems and compositions spanning over 100 years.  As the sounds of Williams and Sousa resonate through Festival Hall, we pay tribute to veterans with a special montage, a pictorial presentation of our local heroes. Bob Benson, local actor and singer returns to sing your favorite patriotic tunes.

Honoring our Armed Forces Troops and Veterans. Any active duty or reserve member of the Armed Forces wearing their uniform or with an ID, will be admitted to the concert free.

Music for a Summer Evening – Sophisticated Swing

Saturday, July 19, 2014 – 5:00 pm to 8:30 p.m.
The Johnson Foundation at Wingspread

Please join us for an evening of elegant hors d’oeuvres and beverages, followed by exceptional desserts. Warm summer air mingles with music from talented Symphony musicians, with the gorgeous and serene backdrop of the Wingspread landscape. Enjoy a guided tour of Wingspread and bid on silent and voice auction items, including artwork, sporting events, restaurant certificates, lodging and more.

All-inclusive tickets for this special event are $75.00 per person.

Great Orchestral Film Music Festival

Enjoy emotion-stirring music from silver screen blockbusters and great composers. All you need to bring is popcorn. Take pleasure in sounds of familiar film music such as John Williams’ Theme from ET, Kilar’s The Pianist, Bernstein’s West Side Story, Morricone Gabriel’s Oboe from The Mission and one of the many Richard Rodgers movie scores. A perfect date night or family outing as these recognizable musical selections are certain to captivate all ages.

Delve into the world premiere of Ilya Levinson’s Cello Concerto, performed by our 2011 Artist in Residence Ian Maksin. Close the evening with one of Beethoven’s self-described “best works,” Symphony No. 7 in A Major, Op. 92.

With a nod to timeless holiday music that you know by heart, the Orchestra will perform them as exciting new arrangements from composer Jim Stephenson.  Enjoy your favorites with a fresh twist. Compose some new holiday memories, as we help you start the holiday season off right. Listen to our high school chorus and raise your own voice during the audience sing along. Santa is watching, so no lip-synching!

Masterworks Concert

New Voices

Get swept away to the old South in Barber’s lyric rhapsody, Knoxville Summer of 1915, with special guest artist, coloratura soprano Alicia Berneche. Nathan Wesselowski, tenor, and The Choral Arts Society will join Berneche in performing Handel’s Ode to St. Cecilia, whose title is a nod to the patron saint of musicians. Explore the musical voice of Julliard-trained composer Cristina Spinei in her 2010 composition for strings, Synched.

Join us as we celebrate our 2014-15 Season finale. Treat yourself to the Orchestra’s performance of Cherubini’s (only) Symphony in D and Brahms’ romantic Variations on a Theme of Haydn. Celebrate promising student-musicians, perhaps future Symphony musicians, as we welcome both the winner of our annual Young Artists Competition and selected Racine County high school string students as participants in our “Side by Side Youth Invitational.”
