The Racine Symphony Orchestra is pleased to announce the winners of the 2023 Young Artist Competition!
Winner’s performance: 5.21.2023
Our first-place winner is Lydia Morency. She played Concerto for Oboe in C Minor by Benedetto Marcello. Lydia is a sophomore at Germantown High School. She has been playing the oboe for five years and studies with Suzanne Geoffrey. Lydia will be playing her concerto with the Racine Symphony at our concert on May 21, 2023. We are looking forward to having her as one of our featured guest artists!
The RSO had a tie for second place. Magdalena Masur playing Max Bruch’s Violin Concerto in G Minor, mvt. 3; and Benjamin Menzhuber playing Rhapsody in Blue on the piano. In third place was Felix Li playing Camille Saint-Saens Concerto No. 1 in A Minor, mvt. 1 on cello.
The staff and board members of the RSO want to thank all the participants for being part of this year’s Young Artist Competition. We also want to thank our donors for their continued support. All of you make the Young Artist Competition, as well as our other education programs, a successful part of the RSO’s mission to enrich, educate, and entertain.
