About Us

The vision of the Racine Symphony Orchestra is to provide outstanding music that touches the soul of the community.

The mission of the Racine Symphony Orchestra is to enrich, educate, and entertain through the power of symphonic orchestral music with a vision to grow opportunities for others to experience extraordinary music that touches and transforms the heart and soul.

The Racine Symphony is one of Wisconsin’s oldest symphony orchestra in continuous operation. Established in 1932 by Frederick Schulte, the name Racine Symphony Orchestra was adopted in 1935 and incorporated as a non-profit organization in 1935. Schulte once said “It’s hard to describe the thrill and rapture I feel when a band or chorus comes up with the right sound. In many ways music is as precise as mathematics. There is a right way to perform it. On the other hand, music is a delicate art open to wide interpretation…as delicate as the human senses.” Since its establishment, over 400 concerts have been held in various spaces including schools, colleges, churches, historical locations and cultural attractions. Our continually evolving music education programs reach and teach “students” from preschool through senior citizens. With a strong foundation and clear mission, the RSO has continued to thrive under the tremendous support of the Racine community, from individuals to corporations and charitable foundations. We are proud to be continue with our 93rd season as part of the vibrant performing arts community of Racine.
