2024 Young Artist Competition Winner

The Racine Symphony Orchestra is pleased to announce the winners of the 2024 Young Artist Competition!

YAC winner Magdelena MasurThe first-place winner is violinist Magdalena Masur. She played Zigeunerweizen by Pablo de Sarasate. Magdalena is a sophomore at Nicolet High School.  She has been studying the violin with the Racine Symphony Orchestra’s concertmaster, Alexander Mandl. Magdalena is also the associate concertmaster for the Milwaukee Youth Symphony Orchestra. Magdalena will be playing her concerto with the Racine Symphony at the concert on April 13, 2024. We are looking forward to having her as one of the featured guest artists!

This year’s second place winner is Faith Weigand playing the Bassoon Concerto in F Major by Carl Maria von Weber. In third place was Jose Ortiz playing Violin Concerto No. 3 by Mozart.

The staff and board members of the RSO want to thank all the participants for being part of this year’s Young Artist Competition. They also want to thank their donors for their continued support. The donors and participants make the Young Artist Competition, as well as the RSO’s other education programs, a successful part of the RSO’s mission to enrich, educate, and entertain.
